Profit/Loss before tax
To start off with Manchester United reported a before tax loss of £130.7m which is a total of 359m in losses accumulated over the last 5 seasons.
Overall Revenue
Overall on the revenue trend Manchester United’s revenue increased on the year prior by £13.4m a 2% increase.
Matchday
Matchday revenue for the year was £137.1 million, an increase of £0.7 million, or 0.5%, over the prior year
Broadcasting
Broadcasting revenue for the year was £221.8 million, an increase of £12.7 million, or 6.1%, over the prior year, primarily due to the men’s first team participating in the UEFA Champions League compared to the UEFA Europa League in the prior year.
Commercial
Commercial revenue for the year was £302.9 million, in line with commercial revenue of £302.9 million in the prior year.
Profit from player Sales
For the first time since 2009 financial accounts Manchester United have got over £30m profit (the year they sold Cristiano Ronaldo) from player trading which shows a slight change of strategy in United’s player trading as the 2025 accounts will most likely show an even higher value as they made around £117m in sales (media reported numbers)
Wages and Amortisation
Manchester United’s wages have gone up 10% from £331m to £365m which would be contributed to playing in the CL which usually triggers bonuses
On the amortisation side its gone up £19.9m an 11% increase which has shown a steady amortisation increase since 2021 going from £120m to £190m in 3 seasons which is due to heavy transfer investment over the seasons.
When combined you can see United sustainability is still pretty good in terms of spending what they earn.
