Premier League Net Spend Summer 2024 Analysis
2024/25 Summer window SLAMS SHUT (Simply Closes) and as always comes my mega thread detailing the window and comparing to the last 5 seasons with full team to team breakdowns
First lets start with the 2025 Net spend chart
Surprisingly Brighton end the window with the highest Net Spend of the 2024/25 Summer at £155m
This window saw a lot of the big teams have "quieter" windows with Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City (-£140m 🤯) all in negative
The overall window still saw a £2.18bn spend. However teams did sell more this window netting out at £0.59bn
In comparison to the last 5 seasons this is a bit of a down trend and more in line with 2021 and 2022 seasons.
2023 saw a record £1.95bn Net with 2025 now showing the highest amount of sales over the last 5 seasons.
Overall PL clubs have spent £11.2bn in 5 seasons
Back on the 2025 window there was still a lot of teams paying high amounts with 3 teams eclipsing the £200m mark in Chelsea, Man Utd and Brighton.
Not many huge transfers as previous windows with Solanke taking the biggest purchase of the window at £65m followed by Leny Yoro at £59m
Teams did sell extremely well this season selling a total of £1.59bn. With 5 teams with over £100m in sales in Arsenal, United, Villa, City and Chelsea.
Near 50% of these sales were sales from PL club to PL club with £762m in transfer fees happening there
I have added a 2nd picture to show all other sales this window with Julian Alvarez being the biggest sale of the window.
Over the last 5 seasons Boeyls spending spree is still the dominant headline with Chelseas net sitting at £900m with 3 of the big 6 taking the other top 4 spots.
A surprising headline is Man Citys down turn over a 5 season period hitting dead last out of all PL teams at -£70m
No surprises here as Chelsea's £220m adds on top of their ridiculous transfer spending capping them off at the £1.6bn mark an average of £320m spend per season. The rest of the teams at the top are quiet bunched up between Newcastle and Man U only being £300m
Chelsea and City do take the top 2 spots over the last 5 seasons in sales with City for the first time leading this table with over £760m in sales. Brighton's high net spend this year is partly due to them having such incredible sales over the last 5 years.
Below is the top 25 purchases over the last 5 seasons. Only 2 transfers this window cracked the list with Yoro at #24 and Solanke at #15. Only 1 team out of the "Big 6" is on the list in Newcastle with transfers for both Tonali and Isak
Below are the top 25 sales over the last 5 seasons with 5 transfers cracking the list.
